Caves of Castello Tesino
The
Caves of Castello Tesino can be found in the canyon dag by the water between the Monte Agaro and the Monte Coppolo. They were discovered in 1926 by Mr Da Rugna from San Donato. They develop for about 400 metres and their full exploration has not been completed yet.
The
caves are carsic: the flowing water is rich in carbon acid, which interacts chemically and physically with the calcareous rocks, dolomites rocks of the Retico and it dag the cave, also contributing to the creation of a fabulous landscape, throughout the millennia, with stalactites and stalagmites, with thousands of colours and shapes.
The cave can be visited only with a guide and on reservation within 12 a.m. of the previous day.
