CHURCH OF SS. FABIANO E SEBASTIANO

Town: Pieve Tesino

This Church was erected in the second half of the fifteenth century in fulfillment of a vow made after an epidemic of plague. At the entrance, on the sides of the beautiful avenue leading to the church, there are two eighteenth-century statues.

Here you can also admire a beautiful Via Crucis decorated by Francesco Raffaele Chiletto.

In the romantic bell tower of San Sebastiano, with an onion dome of recent workmanship, Giorgio Castelrotto, Captain of Primiero, was forced to take refuge in 1575 because he was suspected of being a carrier of plague.

Inside remarkable wooden statues of the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. In the apse there is a fresco where you can see numerous graffiti left as a sign of respect by pilgrims in past centuries, the oldest of which are fifteenth century.

The twentieth-century altarpiece Gaigher is the work of Orazio Gaigher.

From the park in front of the church, called "la Rotonda", you can enjoy a splendid panorama.
