Tor Tonda (ruins)

Town: Roncegno Terme

Tor Tonda together with the Tor Quadra (Novaledo), it was part of a complex of medieval fortifications connected to each other along the military route. The task was creating a link between the Venetian plain and the Alpine front. For the housing of garrisons and for the optical signals along the road it was essential to equip the street with a network of castles and towers. These are the reasons why the two towers were built, apparently without any justification in the totally open location where they are located.
