Museum of Music

Town: Roncegno Terme

The Museum of Popular Musical Instruments, located in the former rectory of S. Brigida, houses more than 500 instruments from 45 states, representing all 5 continents, and divided into 7 thematic rooms.

The peculiarity of the instruments is that they all belong to private collections, many are owned by the director of the San Osvaldo Choir and the Museum, Salvatore La Rosa, others are owned by the Choir itself, the choristers, or Italian collectors and not who wanted to make their "musical jewels" available to the public.

During the visit there is a sort of journey through times and peoples, all characterized by a different musicality.

It is possible to admire instruments and texts from about 1800 onwards; among the oldest instruments, a harmonium built in France in the mid-'800 and belonged to the parish of St. Bridget, among the oldest texts instead, a Vesperale Romanus of 1854 and a Missal Romanum of 1888.

The Museum of Popular Musical Instruments is part of a larger project carried out by the San Osvaldo Choir which also includes the Accademia S. Osvaldo, a musical school open to children, teenagers and adults.

Admission is free. A small contribution is required for the guided tour.
