Biotope of Roncegno

Town: Roncegno Terme
The "Palude di Roncegno" biotope is located between the towns of Borgo Valsugana and Roncegno Terme, in the eastern part of the Rio Chiavona. It is easily accessible from the Valsugana cycle path.

The main characteristics of this reserve are the constant presence of water and the existence of one of the last most important riparian forests on the valley floor of the Autonomous Province of Trento.

It is possible to visit the “Palude di Roncegno” biotope by walking along the visit path, which winds for just over 500 metres.

The route has the important peculiarity of being usable also by those with motor disabilities, the blind and the visually impaired.

The route, in fact, was created with operational methods (width, road surface, absence of steps) such as to allow access to wheelchairs for the disabled.

Furthermore, the information points on the trail (8 in total) have silk-screen printing to ensure reading even for the visually impaired and the noticeboards feature braille panels, relief drawings and fiberglass animal shapes to allow blind people to use the structures through tactile perception. .

Finally, along the entire route, a rope has been placed which acts as a guide for the blind.

Also in the approach section from Borgo, approximately 2.5 km long, tactile indicators have been placed on the ground and sections of guide rope to allow the blind and visually impaired to reach the reserve visit path independently and safely.

The entire route from Borgo to Roncegno, including the visit path to the reserve, was created and set up in collaboration with the Trento section of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
